A visual sound work I created for the 'Karel Appel Inspiratie' group exhibition at galerieWind on the Noordereiland, showcasing 50 Rotterdam artists.

Although being known as an abstract-expressionist painter, Karel Appel (1921-2006) composed the album 'Musique Barbare' as the soundtrack for 'The Reality of Karel Appel (De werkelijkheid van Karel Appel)', a documentary made on him by cinematographer Jan Vrijman in 1962.

I manipulated both the video and its soundtrack in order to expose the hidden delicacy contrasting the 'barbaric' painting technique of Appel.
